Cassie was a beautiful dog and obviously well-loved. She reminds me of my Maddie who left us last year. She was my oldest and the first dog I ever had to put down. It broke my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I think of Maddie often. My vet (and best friend) told me that someday I would want another dog and I vehemently disagreed with her. A few months later, someone called me about golden puppies. I reluctantly went and saw the cutest little bundles of fur. I still was unsure until the breeder told me their birth date. They were born the night Maddie died. Somehow I always feel Maddie had a hand in this. Needless to say, I now have a new golden who is a handful, as I am sure you are aware (I forgot how much work puppies are), but it did ease the pain somewhat. I hope your sorrow is easing up a bit. Take care.
joy, congratulations! Male or female? I've had two dogs, including Cassie, both have been female. I do feel less grieved, though I still feel the loss many times each day. It's like something is missing.
Her name is Abby. She is a big puppy (her dad was a tall guy). What's really kind of funny is she does some things that really remind us of Maddie and it's a wistful moment. Makes us smile though! Goldens are a lot of work, but I can't imagine not having one.
